About Create
Artists can address the issue of climate change in ways scientific or technical data alone cannot. All Imagine 2020 partners share the mission to produce and present work by artists who care about today’s issues and specifically Climate Change. The network provides them with the opportunity to co-commission artists working on an international level and to place their work with local artists in a global context.
The works of art created will be very diverse. Climate Change is such a universal issue that art dealing with this subject has the power to resonate with audiences across Europe. Some of these works will be non-text based, with input from visual artists, and will travel very easily. Others will be devised specifically for a public space or one of the partner venues but could be adapted to another location. In addition the network will jointly commission and present one important piece of art.
Our objectives
To commission, produce, and present relevant local and trans-national artworks addressing the issue of climate change
To encourage artists across disciplines and cultures to engage with the subject
To help the creation of works of art that will stimulate and engage diverse audiences
To enable trans-national residencies and tour work across Europe to provide a greater understanding on how the issue is addressed elsewhere
To provide the possibility for artists and organisers to research and rethink issues of artists’ mobility and producing practices
Imagine2020 is funded with support from the European Union.
